Hello beautiful souls! As many of you may know, I’ve spent the past couple months preparing for a big adventure teaching English in Tanzania more specifically on an island off the coast called Mafia Island.
In July of 2012, I received the incredible news I had been accepted in
World Teach for the 2013 Tanzania Semester!
Since then, I have diligently been fundraising and making proper arrangements
to move my life out of the United States for about three months.
In September 2012, I hosted an “Ashley Strong Photography” art show fundraiser at Trilogy Yoga in Long Beach. Here, I used my framed travel and nature photography along with raffle prizes to raise funds for my program fee. Seeing as this is all volunteer work, the monetary commitment is necessary.
Thank you to each and every one of my supporters, I successfully raised a little over half of my program fee! This whole experience, from getting into the program to fundraising to having a going away party
has been such an incredibly humbling experience.
It was one of the biggest reminders of how truly blessed I am to be surrounded by such supportive, genuine, creative and loving beings everyday! I cannot thank you enough for all you’ve done to make this dream a reality! For the next three months, my photography will be going from Southern California to New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, Amsterdam, Dar es Salaam and Mafia Island, Tanzania.
With this, I will have very limited access to Internet so your patience with responding to request is greatly appreciated. I am still booking 2013 weddings, engagement and portrait sessions after April 2013.
If you are interested in booking a 2013 date, please just contact me with your information
and either myself or Bailey will be in touch!
While there, I set up a blog "Jambo from Tanzania" to keep everyone updated of my adventures and photos taken along this journey. Please check in periodically and feel free to share with others!
Thanks again so much for the abundance of love and support! I look forward to sharing my new adventures with each of you! I’ll be sending lots of love and positive light from Tanzania!
Much Love! :)
I love the dynamics of this shoot so much!
We were blessed to find an environment where we could play on live train tracks and then head down to the sand and water for some beach photos!
Elena and Alex were adorable throughout this entire shoot as they kept one another laughing and smiling
with every photo adventure!
One of my favorite photos is of Elena and Alex holding one another as the train was zipping behind them!
Thank you so much to the both of you for this opportunity!
As a photographer, designer through photography, visionary, curious creature, woman, and someone who believes in humanity and the power of working together...
I have witnessed the effectiveness of images as a form of communication, as a form of education, as a way to understand that which may be foreign to the common eye.
These t-shirts will be walking works of art, with inspirational messages
reminding us of how we are all part of humanity with the added benefit that sales will help fund healing for many who wouldn’t otherwise have access to it.
What makes these five individual t-shirts (available in both male and female styles) exceptional is the power of the photographs – the power of being able to tell a story without words even needing to be spoken and one receiving it just as he or she should.
Over the past 9 months, myself and the two co-founders of Living Ubuntu, Barbara and Anshul have collaborated to ensure we had the most visually appealing designs, with each one conveying the depth and breadth of “Ubuntu”. After sorting through hundreds of images, I selected images that best communicated the word and quote they were representing. Each of the five t-shirts communicates the overall “word” through a presentation of three photos, a quote and then ultimately the word in which these are all representing. With these, each image adds to the puzzle and ultimately telling a story.
To order one or all of the shirts, please contact Barbara and/or Anshul from Living Ubuntu.
You can also order shirts through the Living Ubuntu website.
T-shirts are available in both male and female S-XL!
I am in love with life and all those in it.
