Today is a new day and I am a new me took on a whole new meaning.
Just this Tuesday was my last day of work after four years at PBS SoCaL.
And just Sunday, I said good-bye to my closest friends and family!
I am altering my life.
Drastically changing my life.
This change, it came quick.
Oh so quickly, yet unbelievably pleasant!
And oh so natural.
I thought when going to Tanzania, I was fulfilling a curiosity, one of teaching English in Africa.
Little did I know I wasn’t just fulfilling a curiosity, I was discovering a whole new me,
a whole new way of teaching, expression and fulfillment.
So here I am.
Just hours away from getting on a plane for this adventure.
How do I feel?
What is present in my body?
A sense of heaviness.
And pure joy.
My friends, family and community are my veins.
My blood flow.
They are constant reminders of my sense of purpose and belonging.
All the while, my inspiration to be a better, more full me, more true and honest me.
I am humbled.
Oh so incredibly humbled.
I have received messages, cards, phone calls and so much more with words of gratitude.
Those surrounding me are mere reflections, beaming with love and curiosity.
A combination of openness and acceptance.
Need to help and desire to understand.
Friendly and incredibly beautiful.
Unique and absolutely divine.
The feelings expand.
My stomach growls.
Yes, with physical hunger but more so with hunger for knowledge and experiences.
Living versus just existing.
My nerves are awake.
Voices come in and out… “What are you doing?” “How are you feeling a life already so amazing?’….
Those voices leave just as quickly as they came in.
Amongst it all is a subtle calmness, confidence and a huge, huge smile.
What will happen with each breath and for many breaths thereafter I walk onto the plane are unknown.
But, what is known...
I know I am living my truth.
I know I am about to embark on an experience that will drastically change the realities making up my existence.
I know that the strength, determination and confidence are deep within.
My passion for love and life and connection and community speaks for itself
and with it as my guide, I am in good hands.
Sending so much love and positive light to each and everyone of you!
Thank you for all your support and sharing this journey with me! Until I write again…. See you in Cape Town!
